Your Seven Bodies and Four Transverse Plains

My Mission

My mission is to see you in your complexity and support you as you more deeply embed in your body, your life . . . your being.

Pain and dysfunction often prevent us from living our best life.

Whatever intervention you have tried in the past and has only worked partially or temporarily has been a helpful guide, teaching us there is more, something else is left undone.

We move forward with curiosity: What could it be?

All models of care are limited. We all have blinders we are not aware of. Our blinders are formed by enculturation (the cultural training we experience without knowing we are being trained) and acculturation (the cultural experience that we buy into through education).

My mission is to build on and integrate the many models of care I have been trained in, and from there move forward with curiosity to discover more.

Together we will build on your history to discover the next steps toward wholeness.

Model of Care

I approach you and your uniqueness from the perspective of knowing the natural design of the being.

While we are complex, our being is organized in a predictable fashion that should function in a predictable way.

I organize my thoughts around what I see as the seven systems of your being that I call the seven bodies.

I organize my intervention around the five transverse planes of the body that horizontally divide the body into compartments.

What are My Seven Bodies?

The seven bodies that I work with are

  • the energy body
  • the emotional body
  • the air body
  • the viscera body
  • the hard body (bone, muscle, nerve, fascia)
  • the fluid body (lymph, blood, cerebrospinal fluid)
  • and the biochemical body (hormones, neurotransmitters, amino acids, fats, enzymes, genes (which are enzymes), co-factors etc)

There is a strong bias in Western medicine to see the body as consisting predominantly of the hard body or the biochemical body. But we are all the bodies at once, and all the bodies are related. Many symptoms that do not respond well to Western medicine, chiropractic adjusting, massage, and acupuncture are resistant only because the underlying cause has yet to be identified. The model of care is imprecise or inaccurate – too limiting.

Once the underlying cause is identified, it can be treated, and the body can rehabilitate and heal.

If you are focused on the wrong body, you either won’t heal, won’t heal entirely, or will take a very long time to heal.

What are Transverse Planes?

The transverse planes are made of bones and muscles and fascia that separate

  • the cerebrum from the cerebellum and brainstem (sphenoid and tentorium)
  • head from the neck (tongue, palate, jaw, pharynx)
  • the neck from the torso (thoracic outlet)
  • the torso from the abdomen (respiratory diaphragm)
  • and the abdomen from the pelvis (pelvic floor

Transverse planes are transitional zones.

They are where the spinal curves change direction.

They are where blood vessel, nerves, and lymph go through small holes.

They are what separate different, but intimately related, regions of the body.

Transverse planes must be strong and supple to meet the challenge of transition; just as you must be strong and supple to meet the challenge of transition.

It is imperative to treat these transverse planes so everything above and below can do its job properly.
